After the success of his business, Mr. Chang Yung-Fa always held gratitude towards society and believed that Evergreen has grown from a local enterprise into a global business empire because of the support from all walks of life in Taiwan, so he always wanted to help the disadvantaged and give back to society. In 1985, the “Chang Yung-Fa Foundation” was established to provide charitable aid and cultural scholarships, and in 1996, the “Chang Yung-Fa Charity Foundation” was established to expand the scope of aid. The Foundation has since continued its mission to support disadvantaged families and provide charity sponsorship activities, hoping to give a helping hand to the people who encounter difficulties in life. As the Chinese saying goes, “for every blade of grass, there is a drop of dew”, the Foundation encourages them not to lose their will and stand up again.

In a quote attributed to Mr. Chang Yung-Fa, he remarked, “We possess the resources to offer aid, but where are those who require assistance?” This is precisely where we must depend on referral units that are closely acquainted with families in need and can assist us in identifying and referring those truly in need. We extend our heartfelt appreciation to the referral units located throughout Taiwan for their benevolent support!

We set up 4 offices throughout Taiwan to deepen our outreach into local communities. In addition to providing localized services, we also have long-term interactions and cooperation with local referral units. We have established a complete notification system through police officers, district office social workers, village or borough leaders, civil social welfare foundations, associations, public representatives, hospitals, schools, etc., to achieve the goal of “proactively identifying cases and providing timely assistance.” We have actively contributed to thousands of emergency, disaster relief, medical, funeral assistance and charitable donations every year.

The footprints of the case investigators of the Foundation can be found all over Taiwan, whether in the deepest mountain tribe or most remote seaside village. They visit families in need due to serious illness, injury, death of a family member, or due to other impacts in their lives, and listen to their voices. Except for a few unsubstantiated cases, the Foundation provides those in need with the right amount of relief and diversified services to help them overcome their difficulties, and also select positive cases and provide short, medium and long-term assistance when necessary to help them achieve their goal of getting out of poverty step by step or becoming financially self-sufficient. In the future, the Foundation will continue to uphold the founder's philosophy of helping people to help the world, and convey warmth and relief to every recipient and organization, hoping that they will be able to be a person with their hands on the ground in the future and continue the cycle of goodness.
