Landed a job despite the illness

May 13.2020 | Economic Self-Sufficiency

Yu, a single dad with two daughters, had not been able to work for quite some time after receiving medical treatment for oral cavity cancer. He lived off loans from his extended family.

Yu is fully aware of the importance of being self-reliant and his extended families all had their own financial issues so long-term financial support from them was out of the question. As advised by a friend, Yu took the driving test and obtained the driving license for large vehicles, once his medical condition was stabilized. Yu was then quite proactive in his job search and got hired as a driver by a bus company. Upon receiving company training, he went back to work. With a steady income, he is now able to support his family.
