All roads lead to Rome. Though Xuan was put on a winding road, she got there in the end.

Xuan’s carefree childhood ended when she was 10: her parents divorced, and her mother committed suicide. Xuan was left all alone, distraught. Her grandmother then took over and picked her up from all the misery. The newly restored bliss didn’t last long. When Xuan was 15, her grandmother had a stroke and ended up paralyzed. Seeing her only remaining family become bedridden, Xuan decided to leave school and become her grandmother’s sole caregiver, as well as work part-time to pay for all daily expenses.

While all her peers were able to go to school and work hard for a future goal, Xuan had to quit school due to family circumstances and inevitably felt sorry for herself. Stuck in depressive emotions and unable to lift herself up, she was on the brink of a breakdown. Then she thought of her grandmother and decided to shift her mental state, pull herself out of depression and act positively. She started to read up about psychology in which to find resources and strength. Gradually she found her way back up.

Xuan finally made it to university. She knew she had come a long way, so she cherished everything she had and studied really hard. With her confidence restored, she felt “she was finally able to create a future that she wants.” Xuan is now no longer held back by the dark shadow of her childhood. The pain that she went through in the past has turned into nourishing soil for a blooming flower.
