Yi’s parents divorced when he was a kid. The family relied on the government’s Tier-2 subsidy to cover everyday expenses. Both parents had physical conditions that prevented them from working, so the family lived in poverty. Aware of his tough family circumstances, Yi studied hard and had always stayed at the top of his school from an early age. Since the family has always received external funding right from Yi’s childhood, Yi remains grateful and hopes to one day pay it forward and help other students in similar situations. The Foundation supported Yi all the way till he finished graduate school. Yi has now landed a job in semiconductor design and successfully turned his life around.
