Located on the northern coast in New Taipei City nowhere near the city or the mountains, Sanzhi Junior High School has about 400 students who were having increasing classes moved online due to the pandemic and spending an excessive amount of time using 3C products during summer/winter holidays leading to the rise of poor vision. As there is no local ophthalmologist, parents have to take their kids to Danshui for treatment. The parents were put off by the 2~3 travel hours per visit plus repeated visits.

The Foundation sponsored China Medical University Taiwan’s International Volunteers Chinese Medicine Clinic Service Corps for their Chinese medicine clinic services in Hualian Fengbin Township Maogong, Fengfu, Gangkou and Jingpu, offering health nourishment education and hygiene and health care promotion. The goal was to promote health and medical care, lower disease incidence rates, enhance health awareness in locals, get them to cultivate a daily health care routine and mitigate the uneven distribution of medical resources in the city and in rural areas.

Initiated by the late Linkou Chang Gung Memorial Hospital nephrologist Lin Jie-Liang, TMU Green Cross Health Service Association’s voluntary medical consultation includes clinic services, family visits, elementary school health education camps with a view to promoting medical information. The Foundation funded the TMU medical consultation in 4 villages in Kouhu Township, Yunlin County: Chenglong, Gangxi, Wubei, Taizi, and two elementary schools: Taixing and Jinhu. The team was led by practicing doctors and pharmacists for clinic services, dental care and health & education to implement the concept that preventive medicine works better than treatment and improve the health of those living in rural areas.

National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University (NYCU) Liching Club spent their winter holiday conducting medical service in Kadu Tribe, Zhongzheng Village, Renai Township, Nantou County to promote health education, a wide array of health screening & examinations; to help locals build healthy habits; to go into every household and chat to them about their health information and promote enhance community medicine. Liching Club also ran educational camps based on the needs of Zhongzheng Elementary Schools with the purpose of developing children’s creativity and expanding their vision for the future so as to think about future careers. The Foundation sponsored 80 pieces of paper models and 80 wooly hats donated by SummitGo Industry Co., Ltd. so that they could feel the love from society.

Owing to the pandemic outbreak in the past few years, many social welfare groups are faced with a donation crisis and a number of disadvantaged families suffer from job loss, wage-less leave or reduced income. Chang Yung-Fa, in the spirit of “feeling the pain as if it’s your own pain” and provided timely support to help these social welfare groups keep providing their services to disadvantaged families who were otherwise neglected because of the pandemic.

Chang Yung-Fa Charity Foundation teamed up with Digital Humanitarian Association and WaCare Remote Online Health Promotion Scheme and together funded 10 community long-term care stations in Yunlin County to utilize the remote health promotion and care service platform which allows medical personnel to conduct online remote clinic consultation on elders in remote rural areas for health promotion and health education services with the view of reducing emergency hospital trips through front-end preventive medicine.

The Foundation funded TMU Mountain Social Medical Service Corps’ touring clinic services for locals in Renai Township in Nantou County. The funding aimed to deliver medical resources and improve the health of the economically disadvantaged people by way of offering Chinese/Western medicine, dental health, vision, dermatology, medical massage, health education to eight indigenous tribes including Lushan, Duda, Delugu and educational winter/summer camps in four elemental schools.
