The Chang Yung-Fa Charity Foundation, in collaboration with the Taiwan Institute for Sustainable Energy and the RCSA-Consultant, jointly hosted the "How Social Responsibility Impacts the Sustainable Operation and Development of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises" international forum on April 25, 2023. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and social welfare organizations were invited to participate, and over 200 enthusiastic attendees joined to collectively address issues related to social responsibility.

The recent frequent cold spells and the pandemic have put a strain on the operation of many social welfare groups. As we are coming up to the 30th anniversary of Evergreen Laurel Hotel (Taichung), Chang Yung-Fa Charity Foundation along with the Hotel invited about 300 residents of the five social welfare groups under the Slow flying Angels Family to the “From Evergreen with love: charity gala” today (the 7th). The invited groups were St. Colette Catholic Taichung Center for Special Needs, Veterans’ Service Department of Changhua, Love for All Association, Nantou Qinai Elementary School and Digital Humanitarian Association. We supported charity with action. Owen Ceramics, Maestro Li Chi-Mao and SummitGo Industry Co., Ltd. joined in on the fun and donated blessed rice packets and woolly hats too.

In 2015, Li Chi-Mao, our national treasure and ink wash painter, and Feng Weng-Jun, founder of Owen Ceramics, feeling sorry for those disadvantaged families in Taiwan enduring tough life challenges, decided to contribute what they could to improve the wellbeing of those in adversities and in so doing, hoped to awaken more people to join in too. And that’s how they started the charity collaboration with Chang Yung-Fa Charity Foundation.

Taiwan has recently been hit by the cold front, one after another, resulting in a sudden drop in temperatures. The Foundation matched up with SummitGo Industry Co., Ltd., to donate 500 plus pieces of brand-new woolly hats and scarves to five elementary schools in Wanli District, New Taipei City, on January 6.

Eva Air Marathon 2022 came to a successful end in October. Every year, Eva Air would spend part of its income from marathon registration fees on the financial aid for the disadvantaged groups. This year, besides donating NT$1.2 million to Kaohsiung City Gengxin Social Welfare Foundation, a charity that Chang Yung-Fa Charity Foundation has long been dedicated to, Eva Air decided to give a batch of post-marathon supplies through the Foundation’s matching platform to Huashan Social Welfare Foundation’s Taipei City Angels Station. The supplies included cereals, oats, soft gummies, milk tea sachets, popcorn, and shower gels, and would be distributed to disadvantaged elders that live alone. The Foundation sponsored the transportation fees and had the supplies delivered to the elders that need them.

Eva Air Marathon which was cancelled last year owing to the pandemic is coming back this year. After a two-year wait, Hualian Faith Hope Love Academy (HFHA) is now able to attend the marathon as Chang Yung-Fa Charity Foundation once again matched up Eva Air to release a number of free places so that HFHA youngsters could take up the 10km challenge.

Chang Yung-Fa Charity Foundation teamed up with all companies of the Evergreen Group to pool resources for those who need it. Evergreen Laurel Hotel (Taichung) had recently donated 100 down pillows and distributed through the Foundation to Veterans’ Service Department of Changhua and Love for All Association.

In severe cold weather, these warm items are gestures of warmth and care from society to the disadvantaged groups.

Many people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDDs) will grow up to face difficulties in adapting to society if not given continuous help by a professional institution. The Little Happiness Social Welfare Foundation (LHSWF) houses 20 people with IDDs from New Taipei City and Keelung and trains them to take care of themselves, to adapt to society and for the job market hoping that they can earn a living to live a normal life through making and selling cakes, biscuits.

The COVID-19 pandemic ravaged across the globe dealing a severe blow to all sectors. Eva Air caught up in a tough adversity still managed to give back to society and donated 130 computers and a batch of inflight items to distribute to 101 social welfare groups, long-term care institutions, disadvantaged families and organizations for people with physical and mental disabilities through Chang Yung-Fa Charity Foundation, so that their act of love was not put on hold by the pandemic. The donation ceremony was held on June 12 at the Hualian County Social Welfare Hall attended by Zhang Yi-Hua, director of Social Affairs Department and deputy secretary-general of Hualian County Government. Also present at this heartwarming event were the beneficiaries -- Yuli Zhencheng Community Development Association, Wanrong Elders Group and Zhuoxi Township Zhuoxi Community Development Association, which also expressed their gratitude.

Evergreen Steel’s Tainan Xinying plant held a computer donation ceremony and donated 54 computers and 93 monitors to seven local social welfare groups in Tainan through the help of Chang Yung-Fa Charity Foundation to improve administrative efficiency and also to call on all sectors to carry on giving to the charity even during the pandemic.
