To Taiyuan With Love From Evergreen: agricultural equipment donation ceremony

The Foundation and St. Mary’s Hospital Taitung today (the 4th) held the “To Taiyuan With Love From Evergreen” agricultural machinery donation ceremony and press conference attended by everyone in the tribe. The donation ceremony, held on the Joy Farm at the Taiyuan Tribe in Donghe Township, began with a welcoming dance titled “A Joyous Day” and a blessing ritual by Rev. Ernst Gassner. The Foundation donated three pieces of agricultural machinery to the farm: tractor, rice transplanter, cultivator, to make farm work more efficient and encourage indigenous youths to return and work on the farm at the tribe. The elders at the tribe celebrated the donation and this significant moment with Taiyuan’s traditional dance.

As a gesture of goodwill, Eva Air donated to 68 long-term care centers, community care stations, schools and local social welfare groups in Yunlin 320 wardrobes, 135 computers and 22 couches through Chang Yung-Fa Charity Foundation in a bid to extend the use of resources.

The 101-year-old barber, surnamed Lin, has a barber shop in Datong District for over 60 years serving customers across three generations. Chang Yung-Fa Charity Foundation and Huashan Social Welfare Foundation helped Lin celebrate Father’s Day in advance. Lin came from Fuzhou China alone and worked as a barber ever since. He has no kids. His wife passed away 56 years ago. Cutting customers’ hair has become the focus of his life. Despite his degenerating physical conditions, he keeps his shop running, armed with three pairs of scissors.

Father’s Day is coming up. A group of youngsters with intellectual disabilities showed how they have grown and evolved as a Father’s Day present. Chang Yung-Fa Charity Foundation and Evergreen Laurel Hotel (Keelung) on August 3 held a Father’s Day Special: “Happy Kids try being a store supervisor for a day”. In Keelung, 21 Happy Kids from Little happiness link Social Welfare Foundation’s self-run bakery, Bear House, were invited to serve as supervisors in the 1F lobby bar at Evergreen Laurel Hotel. The Happy Kids greeted everyone amicably, brought out cookies, cakes and coffee that they brewed themselves. They told their fathers: they too could become a store supervisor.
The Foundation hosted a talk to help NPO catch attention

NPOs mostly rely on their Facebook fanpage to transmit information, publicize events and raise funds. But they usually have little clue of the gender, age and whereabouts of their FB readers or followers and know little about what content to post to reap the best results. To help these NPOs keep track of their followers’ characteristics, the Foundation, Taiwan NPO Information Platform and Evergreen Plaza Hotel (Tainan) together on September 17 hosted a seminar, “Charity marketing: Deconstruct NPO network analysis”. The seminar covers how to read FB insight reports, behavior analysis of website browsers, and marketing strategies attracting over 40 groups from Tainan, Kaohsiung, Pingtung to sign up.

Changing the world is not about one person doing a lot but everyone doing a little. The Foundation, Taiwan NPO Information Platform and Evergreen Laurel Hotel (Taichung) together hosted a charity seminar titled, “Talk, Listen, Let’s Act” on November 14 to publicize to people where more help and love is needed. Ten charities were invited to give a presentation each, which was then compiled into a video and shared on social media to spur more people into action, support social welfare groups and improve our society.

The recent pandemic has seriously damaged consumer consumption. Despite the persisting pandemic, the Foundation did not put its charity work on hold. As such, Chang Yung-Fa Charity Foundation teamed up with Evergreen Laurel Hotel (Keelung) and donated a batch of bedding including down duvets and down pillows to social welfare groups such as Love Xizhi Charity Association and Keelung Parents of Children with Autism Association to pay it forward. On the day of donation ceremony, the Foundation staff delivered in person the bedding to Keelung Parents of Children with Autism Association and then distributed them to families in need of bedding.
Evergreen Steel gifted social welfare groups with computers

Evergreen Steel’s Tainan Xinying plant held a computer donation ceremony and donated 54 computers and 93 monitors to seven local social welfare groups in Tainan through the help of Chang Yung-Fa Charity Foundation to improve administrative efficiency and also to call on all sectors to carry on giving to the charity even during the pandemic.
Eva Air and Chang Yung-Fa Charity Foundation donated computers and inflight products

The COVID-19 pandemic ravaged across the globe dealing a severe blow to all sectors. Eva Air caught up in a tough adversity still managed to give back to society and donated 130 computers and a batch of inflight items to distribute to 101 social welfare groups, long-term care institutions, disadvantaged families and organizations for people with physical and mental disabilities through Chang Yung-Fa Charity Foundation, so that their act of love was not put on hold by the pandemic. The donation ceremony was held on June 12 at the Hualian County Social Welfare Hall attended by Zhang Yi-Hua, director of Social Affairs Department and deputy secretary-general of Hualian County Government. Also present at this heartwarming event were the beneficiaries -- Yuli Zhencheng Community Development Association, Wanrong Elders Group and Zhuoxi Township Zhuoxi Community Development Association, which also expressed their gratitude.

Many people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDDs) will grow up to face difficulties in adapting to society if not given continuous help by a professional institution. The Little Happiness Social Welfare Foundation (LHSWF) houses 20 people with IDDs from New Taipei City and Keelung and trains them to take care of themselves, to adapt to society and for the job market hoping that they can earn a living to live a normal life through making and selling cakes, biscuits.

In severe cold weather, these warm items are gestures of warmth and care from society to the disadvantaged groups.
