This May saw a sudden and drastic increase of confirmed cases all over Taiwan. Yet Veterans’ Service Department of Taipei City could not pause their service to veterans, as they were mostly vulnerable and elderly, which made them the high-risk group for pandemic infection, and would extra help and attention from society.

Chang Yung-Fa Charity Foundation gave its most staunch support to the front-line staff at the Veterans’ Service Department of Taipei City by donating 500 rapid antigen test kits to ensure extra protection for the staff and the Rong-Xin volunteer team. As the pandemic was still at its peak, hence the increasing demand for rapid antigen test kits, whose cost could pose a significant burden on the disadvantaged families. So the test kits donated by the Foundation will be partially distributed to low-income vulnerable veteran families to safeguard their health and mitigate the pandemic’s impact on them. Dong Yu-Wen, director of Veterans’ Service Department of Taipei City, said, “We are very thankful for the Foundation’s acknowledgement of our work and providing our front-line staff with adequate protection as well as taking care of the need of the vulnerable veterans. Let’s hope the pandemic will soon abate and we can all get our life back.”
