300 Gather to Warm Hearts Amidst Strong Cold Wave

The Chang Yung-Fa Charity Foundation, in collaboration with Evergreen Plaza Hotel and Taiwan Sugar Corporation, organized a "Winter Joyous Gathering, Warm Memories of Love and Sustainability - Charity Caring Banquet" on January 23rd at Evergreen Plaza Hotel. Over 300 people from low-income households and various charitable organizations in Tainan attended the event, which aimed to provide care through tangible actions. Notable attendees included Tainan Mayor Huang Wei-Che and representatives from the involved organizations. The event sought to spread warmth and support amidst challenges like the pandemic and economic downturn.
The event began with a performance by the Tainan P.P. Saxophone Orchestra, followed by African students from Chang Jung Christian University singing. The Big Bubble Brother team entertained with magic, alongside a pipa performance. Guests enjoyed a feast featuring Buddha Jumps Over the Wall, steamed grouper, pork chops, and sea cucumber with abalone. The banquet ended with cupcakes as souvenirs, leaving joyful memories.
Mayor Huang thanked social welfare organizations for supporting vulnerable groups and acknowledged the Chang Yung-Fa Charity Foundation and Evergreen Plaza Hotel for their dedication. Despite the cold wave, he felt warmth within.
Chairman Wu of the Foundation noted that the pandemic has reduced donations to social welfare groups, and the foundation aims to bring warmth and inspire societal support through this banquet. Evergreen Plaza Hotel General Manager, Zheng Dong-Bo pledged continued commitment to corporate social responsibility, supporting the elderly, vulnerable families, and low-income households as the hotel marks its 20th anniversary and the banquet’s tenth year.
Father Wu Dao-Yuan, Executive Director of the Tobias Social Welfare Foundation, expressed gratitude for the warmth extended by the Foundation and Evergreen Plaza Hotel, allowing people with disabilities to feel the warmth amidst the cold winter.
The Chang Yung-Fa Charity Foundation and Evergreen Plaza Hotel are leveraging the hotel's resources for charitable activities, including the " Drawing Aspirations, Building Self-Reliance " event by the Tobias Social Welfare Foundation in March. They invite public participation and encourage enterprise to support social welfare efforts.
