Journeys of Love, Stays of Hope — “Cutest” Disaster Prevention Education

The Chang Yung-Fa Foundation, together with the Taiwan Elite Alliance, launched the Journeys of Love, Stays of Hope project to integrate resources and spread care nationwide. The second stop was in Tainan, which hosted a “Cutest” Disaster Prevention Education event to raise students’ disaster awareness and response skills.
On April 11, the Foundation partnered with Evergreen Plaza Hotel (Tainan) and the Taiwan Elite International Rescue Association to hold the event at Tainan Municipal Shihmen Elementary School. Four adorable rescue dogs—Tang Tang, Emma, Joy, and Bassa—performed search drills, captivating nearly 100 students. Instructors taught earthquake safety procedures such as “Drop, Cover, and Hold On” and orderly evacuation, emphasizing the importance of human-dog teamwork to rescue success.
Liu Meng-fen, Senior Specialist of the Foundation, stressed the importance of disaster education in reducing risks, with interactive learning involving rescue dogs playing a key role. Hiko Chen, General Manager of Evergreen Plaza Hotel (Tainan), highlighted the hotel’s commitment to social responsibility and support for public welfare.
Principal Liu Zhen-Lin praised the engaging and effective approach, noting how the activity made serious disaster concepts both vivid and memorable. Students were thrilled by the rescue dogs’ skills and contributions.
After the event, the dogs interacted warmly with students, leaving a lasting impression. The Foundation will continue promoting disaster education and working with partners to enhance Taiwan’s safety and resilience for future generations.
