Chang Yung-Fa Charity Foundation Hosts Aviation Career Lecture to Inspire Students at Chiayi County Jong Ho Junior High School
The Chang Yung-Fa Charity Foundation organized an aviation career talk at Chiayi County Jong Ho Junior High School to bridge urban-rural gaps and expand students’ career horizons in a remote area with limited educational resources. Former EVA Air pilot Captain Han Hsiang-Fan and former Chief Purser, now Associate Professor, Wan Kuang-Man shared industry insights with about 170 teachers and students, hoping to light a path toward students’ dreams.
Jong Ho Junior High serves many students from single-parent, grandparent-led, special needs, immigrant, or low-income families, where limited home support contributes to lower academic performance and wider gaps. To rebuild students’ confidence and interest in learning, the school offers after-school programs while the Foundation provides additional resources, using the aviation lecture to bring concrete career exposure directly into the classroom.
During the session, Captain Han described his path to becoming a pilot, along with his daily responsibilities and challenges, allowing students to glimpse life inside the cockpit. Associate Professor Wan introduced the duties and professional standards of flight attendants, encouraging students that, with effort and passion, they can pursue aviation careers regardless of background.
The interactive Q&A saw students enthusiastically asking about the realities of pilot and cabin crew work, concluded with a photo session that turned the event into a memorable learning experience. Foundation Senior Specialist Liu Meng-Fen and Principal Fang Xin-Yu both emphasized that the lecture broadened students’ horizons, sparked curiosity and imagination, and helped plant “seeds of dreams” for rural youth, with the Foundation committed to continuing such support.
