A Partnership for Hope: Supporting Children in Need
The Chang Yung-Fa Charity Foundation partnered with the Canaan Holistic Care Association in Nantou to support disadvantaged children. The association provides after-school care for youth from vulnerable backgrounds, including indigenous, new immigrant, and single-parent families. Many children face challenges like lack of supervision, unstable meals, and academic setbacks.
To address these needs, the association runs an after-school program that offers a safe and stable learning environment. It provides academic tutoring, character education, and talent development, helping children rebuild confidence and develop their sense of self-worth. For those with severe family crisis, meals and accommodation are also provided.
To sustain this work, the Foundation provided funding for the program and Chairman Daniel Wu visited in person to better understand the children’s needs and offer encouragement. He praised the association’s long-term dedication, saying that helping one child means giving hope to a whole family. The Foundation aims to extend its reach to the places that need it most.
The association’s leader shared that change takes time, but with daily support and encouragement, children can gradually regain their confidence and smiles.
During the visit, the Foundation also joined classroom activities and engaged directly with the children, witnessing their joy and potential firsthand.
Moving forward, the Foundation will continue collaborating with partners to support children in rural areas, creating safer and more nurturing environments for their growth.
