Art heals lives
The private Ruth Society for Disability Service in Taoyuan City primarily provides full-day care services for individuals with physical and mental disabilities. Currently, it accommodates approximately 76 residents, mainly focusing on adult students with moderate to severe, multiple disabilities, and autism. Due to the challenges faced by individuals with disabilities in expressing themselves, managing emotions, and lacking social skills, the Chang Yung-Fa Charity Foundation has partnered with the Ruth Society for Disability Service to sponsor a series of art creation courses. These include frameless printing, fluid art, torn paper art, harmonious pastel painting, and creative clay painting. These art classes allow the academy's residents to express their inner world through painting, helping to alleviate their stress and anxiety while enhancing their confidence and self-worth.
The foundation's team also personally visited the academy to care for the residents and experience the joy of fluid painting. By pouring or pouring paint naturally, the colors collide, and they can create unique works of art with their own thoughts. Stress-free painting can certainly help each resident heal mentally and emotionally. The foundation hopes that through these diverse art courses, they can help the residents build confidence, overcome social fears and anxiety, and further improve their quality of life.
Executive Director Qiu Jiahuai of the Ruth Society for Disability Service stated that through these courses, the residents not only gain new artistic experiences but also can express their inner worlds through art creation. They also plan to hold an exhibition of the artwork, inviting residents' families and the public to attend, overturning the stereotypical impressions of the disadvantaged disabled community. Art is also becoming a friendly medium for communication.
